Dineli is the Founder & CEO of STEAMistic. She holds a Bachelor of Science (Specialization) in Cell Biology from the University of Alberta & is currently pursuing post-graduate studies in Sociology at the University of Alberta. Dineli founded STEAMistic in 2022 as a response to educational barriers exacerbated during the COVID-19 pandemic for students from low socioeconomic (SES) backgrounds in her hometown, Edmonton, AB. Dineli is passionate about interdisciplinary education and complementing humanities education with natural sciences. STEAMistic provides free Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics (STEAM) educational materials to students from low SES backgrounds across Edmonton and area. In her free time, you can find Dineli reading fiction books, watching a new TV show, drinking lots of coffee, and spending time with friends and family!

I’m a M.Sc. student studying Chemistry at UofA. I’m highly passionate about education and one of my burning desires is helping people and have a positive impact on their lives. The combination of education with helping youth to have a better experience, lead me to believe that being a part of this organization will fulfill my aspirations and make an impact on young people’s lives.

This is my second year at STEAMistic, and I will begin my first year at the University of Calgary this fall, majoring in Kinesiology as a Bachelor of Science. In my free time, you can find me volunteering at the Childrens Hospital, working as a pharmacy assistant, or perfecting my hobby as a nail technician. I joined STEAMistic initally as a creative outlet, later evolving into an opportinuty for leadership, surrounded by likeminded people with a passion for combining science with the arts.

A science fact she recently found interesting is that if the Sun were as tall as a typical front door, the Earth would be the size of a nickel.

Cindy is a Biomedical Engineering student who joined STEAMistic after growing up in similar programs that played a significant role in inspiring her to pursue STEM. She is passionate about giving back and helping create opportunities for youth to explore science and engineering. In her free time, Cindy enjoys doing nail art and swimming. Her current favourite song is Swimming Pools by Kendrick Lamar, and her favourite season is fall, as she loves the changing colours of the leaves and the comfortable weather. A science fact she recently found interesting is that a person’s forearm is approximately the same length as their foot.

Maranata is a student who enjoys learning and embracing new experiences. A science concept she recently found fascinating is pulsars—rapidly rotating neutron stars that emit beams of electromagnetic radiation.

Hi there! I am a Biological Sciences student in their first year at the University of Alberta. I fondly remember participating in science experiments held by my primary school teachers; they remain one of the pivotal reasons why I pursued my degree in the sciences. She joined STEAMistic after experiencing financial barriers in her own education and is passionate about supporting youth and showing them that pursuing STEAM is both accessible and worthwhile. Outside of STEAMistic, Venus enjoys taking her dog on walks (on the days he isn’t barking at everything) and spending her free time reading fiction. A science fact she recently found fascinating is that stargazing is essentially time travel—some of the stars we see today may have died long ago, but their light is only now reaching Earth.
